Auriculotherapy

Auriculotherapy is based on the stimulation of reflex points concentrated on the ear, by the semi-permanent application of flax seeds. Although it has its origins in ancient Chinese medicine, auriculotherapy is a reflexology technique.

Thanks to the NADA protocol , auriculotherapy is known worldwide and renowned for supporting people who want to get rid of their addictions and those who have to face cumulative, neglected, traumatic stress.

Reflexology through the ears

Dr. Nogier's research

Auriculotherapy, on the other hand, has little to do with MTO. (Re)discovered in the 1950s by Dr. Paul Nogier, this Lyon native, both an engineer and a doctor, had learned that some of his patients were having their sciatica treated by a healer who used fire points in the ear. She told him how her father, a sailor in the China seas, had saved a Chinese sage from a shipwreck who, to thank him, had passed on the "healing points" to him. There was a point for diarrhea, a point for impotence, one for sciatica, and so on. Paul

                                                Nogier concluded that there must be other points for other pains. In order to

                                                identify, he traumatized every part of his own body and recorded, thanks to a

                                                electrical device of his invention, the precise points of the ear corresponding to

                                                every pain.

                                                It assumes that the ear has the same shape as an inverted fetus, where each point

                                                refers to an organ or viscus by reflex. For fifteen years, Dr. Nogier

                                                continues its research, multiplies experiments, develops measurements, and updates

                                                himself questioned his discoveries. In 1956, he published the first real drawing

                                                map of the location of reflex points. From then on, he will no longer speak of acupuncture

                                                auricular but integumentary reflexology.

                                                The ear represents a "map" of all human organs. Our body

                                                works like an electrical network. All commands come from the brain and

                                                return to the brain.

The ear is located at a strategic point on the brainstem, which is the routing pathway for all the body's information. Each time a message goes up or down the brain, it is "displayed" in the ear. The auricle thus contains the entire innervation of the body.

Among all these messages: pain, on which auriculotherapy works remarkably well.

Dr. Nogier's indications

According to Dr. Paul Nogier, auriculotherapy is a reflexology that uses the auricle as a therapeutic keyboard. While auriculotherapy works on pain, it can also affect hormonal regulation (against menopausal hot flashes or in fertility stimulation), on dietary regulation and urges in general, on withdrawal and intoxication. It also works against insomnia, fears, and anxiety disorders.

Auriculotherapy is indicated by the World Health Organization in the following cases:

  • Pain  : headaches, migraines, stiff neck, dental neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, cervico-brachial neuralgia, acute lumbago, sciatica, painful after-effects of spinal surgery, rheumatic, joint and tendon pain in the limbs, algodystrophy, shingles, phantom limb, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, all pain due to cancer.

  • Psychosomatic disorders  : stress, anxiety, anguish, insomnia, tachycardia, spastic colitis

  • ENT pathology  : tinnitus, deafness, vertigo, rhinitis, sinusitis, earache, facial paralysis, taste and smell disorders, dry mouth (xerostomia)

  • Allergies  : ENT, conjunctivitis (eye), skin, asthma

  • Dermatology  : acne – urticaria – psoriasis

  • Endocrine disorders  : Hot flashes, premenstrual syndrome, fertility stimulation, painful periods, pregnancy pathology, thyroid, eating disorders, obesity

  • Addictions and detoxification  : tobacco, medications (anxiolytics, antidepressants, sleeping pills and painkillers), food, etc.

  • Neurofunctional disorders in children or adults  : tics, stuttering, bedwetting, language and writing disorders, etc.

  • Neurological problems  : headaches, migraines, various neuralgias, after-effects of shingles, after-effects of stroke, sleep disorders, anxiety-depressive syndromes

  • Dentistry  : dental pain, temporomandibular joint problems, preparation for surgery.

  • Gastroenterology  : inflammation of the digestive tract, colopathies, gastric disorders

  • Cancerology  : most of the consequences of cancer treatments, in preparation for certain surgeries and certain anesthesias...

  • Les problèmes musculo-tendineux des sportifs

L’auriculothérapie une thérapeutique simple, puissante et respectueuse qui soulage le corps, tranquillise l’esprit et évite les surenchères médicamenteuses et les effets secondaires.

All for NADA

The NADA protocol is a standardized method of auriculotherapy treatment established by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association . It was developed in the 1970s by Professor Michael Smith at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Designed to treat heroin addicts, the successes were so convincing that the protocol became a model for many other institutions dealing with addictions of all kinds: drugs, gambling, pathological sexual practices, violence, etc.

Furthermore, the use of this protocol for victims, immediate witnesses of traumatic events (accident, breakup, rape, natural disaster, etc.) and their loved ones has also proven to be very beneficial, very fruitful, and even salutary.

Today, the NADA protocol is used worldwide. Experience proves it: regular ear reflexology treatment not only reduces the side effects of trauma, withdrawal, or withdrawal symptoms, it also has a stabilizing and compensatory effect. These benefits can also be used in the treatment of psychiatric patients and stress victims.

Characteristics of the course of a group session

  • General presentation of the treatment and preparation of a relaxed atmosphere

  • Placement of 5 needles on each earlobe

  • Patient selection is not mandatory. However, participation must be truly free and voluntary.

  • While the treatment can be done in individual sessions, it has been developed to work at the group level; it is then astonishing to see the communicative effect from one person to another. Here again, the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

  • Duration 35 to 50 minutes

  • Atmosphere of support, absence of confrontation and judgment

Recommendation

  • every day during the withdrawal phase

  • by recurring phase according to the intensity of the trauma

  • during the half-yearly or annual team-building days

A form of non-verbal therapy. Since there is no individualized diagnosis but rather the consideration of collective suffering, this therapy is particularly suitable for people who are weakened within a group, in a state of shock or held in a hierarchy (visible or not) that would not allow them access to care, or for people who are reluctant a priori to talk about themselves, either through modesty or lack of confidence or even through lack of mastery of language or communication codes.

The 5NP Method: non-verbal care enhanced by the group effect

According to numerous studies based on scientific evidence as well as countless individual experiences, the protocol is known to:

  • relax and release repressed fatigue;

  • reduce accumulated stress and anxiety;

  • reduce the use of substances and withdrawal symptoms (tension, anxiety, depression, cravings, aggression, obsession, etc.);

  • improve autonomy, vitality, self-confidence and the desire to cooperate.

Once the five points in each ear have been punctured, the patient relaxes quietly. These points are the same for everyone. The emotional release effects are, of course, unique to each person.

The procedure serves as an affordable, easy, practical, and powerful solution for regulating stress and pain within a group sharing a common reality. It is an ideal complement, because it is pragmatic and non-judgmental, to educational, psychological, social, hospital, and managerial support.

Our patients share a collective problem, whatever their origins, hierarchical positions or horizons: Victims of domestic violence or witnesses of an earthquake, members of a company in the process of being acquired by a competitor or families fleeing war zones…. all feel a clear improvement in their “discomfort”, a more optimistic and cooperative attitude as well as the reduction of cravings, anxiety, sleep disorders or even the reduction (or even cessation) of the use of tobacco, alcohol, medication, dissimulation and lies.

If nothing works, consider boosting yourself with the NADA protocol!

Unlike holistic treatment, this technique, developed in the 20th century, considerably improves the effectiveness of highly targeted treatments, particularly for relational disorders (impulsivity, anxiety, aggression, poor communication, non-cooperation, etc.) and behavioral disorders (eating, sleep, addictions, etc.) through strict and powerful protocols.
